Clipper/Trimmer Maintenance
Professional Tools are expensive. Taking some basic steps to maintain them can increase life and performance. That saves you money! Below are a few tips to help. If you are new to clippers, start making these tips a part of your habits. If you are experienced, let these tips remind you of best practices to keep your craft and tools sharp.
1) Oil
- If you have time to do one thing this is it: OIL your blades! Sprays (even if they say lube on the label) are NOT a substitute for a good quality clipper oil.
- Oil will help with heat that builds up from newer, faster motors
- Use a quality clipper oil and avoid WD-40, etc. Use oil liberally and wipe off excess.

2) Cleaning
- Frequently brush debris from the blade and use a disinfecting spray to clean and wash away junk and gunk. Modern hairstyles use lots of pomades, gels and sprays that will end up on your blades. Pause regularly to clean it off.
- Follow up with plenty of oil!

3) Avoid moisture at all cost.
- Oil before storing
- Never store below a sink or in a damp area. Your blade will rust/corrode very quickly
